One Dollar Wednesday

"Cup and Saucer", 4" x 4", oil on gessoboard

Another 1 $ Wednesday...posting on Thursday! (Sorry for the confusion.)

One Dollar Wednesday is when I go through my painting archives and find what I think is a gem and is a couple of years old. Instead of it sitting around my studio, I offer it up on eBay starting at 1 $.

It feels like yesterday when I painted this, but it's hard to believe it's been 2 years! What?!

This is a cute little (4" x 4") cup and saucer painting. It would look cute in a dining room, sitting room, coffee house, or kitchen. Maybe propped up on a shelf or sitting on a little easel.

Happy Bidding!

Pea Green

No. 296, 6" x 6", oil on gessoboard

I stopped by Starbucks the other day for a coffee and was feeling lazy, so I went through the drive-thru. The person who took my order started off by saying...Welcome to Starbucks! My favorite color is COBALT BLUE...what's yours? So, I said CHARTREUSE! Then he took my order, which was a cafe mocha (of course). When my order came out I noticed the sleeve was pea green. Another great color, so I though I would paint it. I love the challenge of mixing color!

Summer Treat

No. 295, 6″ x 6″, oil on gessoboard

I’ve had this colander forever and just didn’t know how to incorporate it into a still life. Then this thought came to me!

Slowly, but surely getting back into doing these little still life paintings.

Soft Spoken

I have been enjoying my first week of an online Intuitive Painting class with Flora Bowley. The class is more about creating abstract work, but I thought it would be great to apply what I’m learning to still life as well. Below are 2 paintings I’ve been working on this past week for my class.

Catch

No. 290, 4" x 4", oil on gessoboard

This will be the last "dog" ball for now. My dog, Zoe, is relieved that I won't be painting anymore of her toys. She doesn't really like to share, but she does LOVE to play CATCH! She's very good at it and would play for hours if she found someone willing to throw the ball for hours.

Buds

No. 289, 6" x 6" oil on gessoboard

I love the contrast of the delicate rose buds and the beer bottle.

I painted this and then went to visit my "mumsie".

Another Ball

It was raining so, I had to paint inside today. My dog, Zoe, made sure to stay close while I was painting. I guess she didn't trust me with her favorite toy.

A Ball

No. 286, 4" x 4" oil on gessoboard

This painting is my first attempt at painting outdoors. It was a beautiful morning so I collected all my paint supplies and headed to the backyard. It's amazing how wonderful colors look in real sunlight. I just chose a simple subject, but something I have never painted before...a ball. And not just any ball, this is my dog Zoe's birthday ball. She loves to "Get the ball!"

Found

No. 283, 6" x 6", acrylic on gessoboard
Available in my Etsy shop.

We were doing a little spring cleaning this weekend and I found this bowl in the basement. I totally forgot we had it. It had only been missing for 10 years! I need to do some more searching in the basement…who knows what I’ll find! :)

Room For One

6"x6", oil on gessoboard
Available in my Etsy shop.

There was room for only one orange in the bowl. The others will just have to wait their turn.

I really want to go to a painting workshop this year, but I can't decide which one I want to go to!

Heirloom Tomato

Available in my Etsy shop.

I always love the organic shape of heirlooom tomatoes. They are almost kind-of disgusting looking, but cute!

Love Letter

4"x4", oil on gessoboard
Available on ebay.

Some days my still life painting just doesn't work out. So, instead of wiping it, I thought I would just make an abstract out of it. Last week I was painting a love letter in a bottle and it was not working for me. I was loving the colors, so I started making the objects into shapes and this is what I came up with.
