I really like the colors in this one.

September got away from me. I hope to get more paintings done this month.

Shift

No. 260, 6"x6", acrylic on gessoboard

This is one of the many vintage shift dresses I have collected over the years. Shifts are wonderful. They are very flattering and comfortable to wear.

So, I think I'm going to "shift" gears and paint some dresses for a bit.

Took a little longer break than I planned.

It was good to get back to my easel and do some acrylic painting.

It's spring, but we have been getting snow showers for the last 4 days.

Pepper's Portrait

I'm always in love with acrylic paintings that are on the loose side that look more like oils.

I knew when I purchased these flowers they were on their way out. But, I fell in love with their pink little ruffles. I’m enjoying these acrylic paintings and think I will continue with them for awhile.

Pink Shadow - 205

"Pink Shadow", 6"x6", acrylic on hardboard, ©2013 Heather Hingst Bennett
SOLD.

Thought I’d play with some acrylics. If I could only get better with this medium, I would probably switch to it permanently. It’s so nice to just clean up with water! Not to mention, they dry quick so I could post them in “real time”!

No. 204, ©2013 Heather Hingst Bennett

I also had to try them with the cup and saucer.

One Dollar Wednesday

It's Wednesday again and time for another 1 $ deal. On Wednesdays I find one of my older paintings and list it on eBay at a starting bid of $1. This week I have "Cat Eye" available. It was originally painted on March 4, 2011.

Happy Bidding!

My Little Kumquats #009

"My Little Kumquats", 6x6, acrylic on hardboard

My after school art class for 1st – 4th grade started yesterday. We are studying the Impressionist artists.

I like this suggestion Monet gave to other painters:

“When you go out to paint, try to forget what objects you have before you – a tree, a house, a field, or whatever. Merely think, here is a little square of blue, here an oblong of pink, here a streak of yellow, and paint it just as it looks to you, the exact color and shape, until it gives your own naive impression of the scene before you.”

Trying to make my paintings more of an impression…and it isn’t easy! I think this one is going in my kitchen.

Thanks for stopping by!
