Grandma's Loveseat - SOLD

"Grandma's Loveseat"

6"x6", oil on hardboard

Grandma's loveseat is now at my house. When she moved out of her house to go into an assisted living home she called and asked if there was anything I wanted of hers. Without hesitation I said I wanted her loveseat pair. And she said...They're yours! I think she was really happy and maybe surprised that I wanted something like that from her home. They are very special to me because I can remember spending the night at her house with ALL my cosines and sleeping on the loveseats...until I got to tall.

I can't believe this the last day of JULY! Wow! Where is the summer going? The countdown is on for back to school at our house. (I think I'm the only one counting down.) Tonight we're trying to get back on a more responsible bedtime...no more midnight hanging out around here!!

I purchased this handbag by Adrienne Vittadini in 1992/1993. It was when color blocking was all the rage. One side of the bag is black and the other is white.

Remember the song "Raspberry Beret" by Prince?

Last week my daughter and I went downtown to do a little shopping. We stopped in The Black Market and I fell in LOVE with this beret. It's blue leather and looks really cute on me with that little bow so I had to have it!

Textile Tuesday

W E L C O M E to our first "official" Textile Tuesday.

"Color Story No. 8"

12"x12", art quilt, cotton fabric hand-dyed by the artist

One of the aspects I love about art quilts is dyeing fabric. This is an art all to itself and for me a surprise as I love to mix and mingle colors and just see what I come up with.

Above is just a sample of what you can come up with when dyeing your own fabrics.

TO PURCHASE :: Click here to bid or send me an email. Thanks!

Don't forget to check out last weeks art quilt too! Thanks! I hope you enjoyed Textile Tuesday.

Shot of Cherries - SOLD

"Shot of Cherries"

6"x6", oil on hardboard

I apologize...this painting is still wet and I had to photograph it instead of scanning it, so I can see I'm getting a glare on the cherries. I'll replace the picture as soon as the paint dries.

I have finally learned that I like to paint on a surface that has a little bit of tooth and have been using a clear gesso on my panels before I start painting. It helps my paint from sliding around too much.

If you have a moment, click on "paintings" above. I'm slowly, but surely making a little gallery page. Eventually I will have all paintings completed from this year and last year displayed with a link to the blog post.

Starting tomorrow, I'll be featuring a small art quilt every Tuesday and I'm calling this little break in painting "Textile Tuesday".

RUNWAY FINALE

The finale in a few ways. The last painting with this subject, for now, and the actual finale of the fashion show. When the designer walks down with the models.

Do you remember the show STYLE WITH ELSA KLENSCH? I used to love it. I watched it religiously during high school. Just a small town girl dreaming of life in the big city.

MODELS

"Models"

6"x6", oil on stretched canvas, painting carries onto canvas sides

Meet our Givenchy models Organza (left) and Chiffon (right)(aka Organza Indecence). Of course, these are parfume bottles and as I was setting them up I thought of them as models making their way down the runway. Organza is making her way down the runway while Chiffon is making her way back up. I sure hope Organza doesn't trip on Chiffon's dress!

The House of Givenchy was founded in 1952 by Hubert de Givenchy and one of it's most famous patrons was Audry Hepburn.
