For Zoe
![]() |
Zoe getting comfortable at the dining room table among all our projects. |
My heart almost stopped.
She basically had a lump in her breast and as it turns out, it was a pretty good size.
So, I scheduled her to have it removed. She went in yesterday and I heard that everything went well. They actually removed 2 lumps and she has a long incision. I get to pick her up at 3:45 this afternoon and I can't wait to have her back home!
I just want to say, make sure you have your female puppy spayed before her first heat. I did not do this for Zoe. If you don't do this before her first heat she has a much greater chance in getting mammary cancer.
So, now I'm really trying to get some paintings sold. I'm having a 35% off sale in my painted chic! etsy shop. Just use the coupon code FORZOE at check-out. Sale starts today and will end at the end at midnight November 29.
I am slowly adding new painting to the shop, so if you see something on my blog that you don't see in my shop, just send me an email or convo me on Etsy and I will get it added for you.
Hopefully I can help you with some of your holiday shopping and you can help me pay my veterinarian bill. :)
Thanks for stopping by!

fabric folly
I finished my last "Tiny" quilt on Saturday and now I'm on to my NEXT project...cleaning out and getting ready for my new studio space.
At one time I thought I couldn't HAVE enough fabric and now I'm feeling smothered by it, so I've decided to organize a little stash sale in my etsy shop. It's not all there and I'm gradually adding new items almost daily. So, stop by an see if there is anything that you just can't live without!

“Cute as a Strawberry”

This is the first strawberry I have ever painted. I have always been intimidated by the seeds.

no. 016 - "garden rose" - SOLD

“Garden Rose"
6″ x 6″
oil on gesso board
$10 USD – free shipping in US.
Please contact me to purchase or for more information.
These are roses that grow on the south side of our house. They are the kind that bloom only once. I like the looseness of this painting. I think I have put together a better arrangement for tomorrows painting.
Thanks for looking!

“Polka Dot Plate”

What a difference a day makes. I sketched it out first instead of going directly to paint. It helped a lot.
Thanks for looking!

“Lovely Lavender”
6″ x 6″
oil on gesso board
This started out like the other finger nail polish paintings with a harsh line indicating the wall and a table, but I decided to try a softer approach on this one. I eliminated the line and blended the background and foreground areas together. I think it looks much richer.

I thought I would try some techniques I use with acrylics on this piece. The circles were made with a paper towel tube.

It looks like these shapes are in P.E. class and their teacher just told them to spread out.
I think I've had enough of the shapes for awhile. I have by no means mastered them, so I'll be painting them again. Monday it's on to something else. I'm not sure what yet...hmmmm! But I'm definitely going to be using oils!

Same subject, but in acrylics this time.
I think I did a little better working with acrylics on this painting. I started with a tinted ground in primary magenta from Golden® (fluid acrylic) then I drew a quick sketch of my subject with a colored charcoal pencil. Then I used titanium white from Amsterdam Acrylics (expert) to under paint the different areas of my painting before I painted them in color. I only wish more of the red ground showed through.

I think I'm getting the hang of painting these shapes. There is something I'm a little confused about and I checked and doubled checked this. The cylinder and box shapes both have their lightest sides on the left side, while the pyramid shape at the top the lightest side was to the right. The light source is on the left. I'm not sure how it happens. Maybe from reflection from the white walls of my light box? Hmmm....

No. 001 and No. 002
Many changes going on around here.
I started painting a few times a week in January and now I'm hooked.
So I though...why don't I do the daily painting thing! I know this is nothing new and many, many artists are doing this and many have done this. I am going to paint one 6×6 inch still life painting on hardboard. It’s a little experiment…I want to see just how good at painting I can get in 365 Days! I actually started yesterday over on a different blog, but I'm thinking of switching it over here. So, this is a catch up post.
It looks like all the little blocks are headed home for the day.
